After many years of frustratingly watching Question Time, getting annoyed at politicians inability to give a straight answer, and being an on/off inactive member of the Liberal Democrats, I decided in 2007 to get involved in politics properly and have since been Chair of Bromley Liberal Democrats and Parliamentary Candidate for Bromsgrove in the 2010 General Election. I am currently an activist in Merton (and London) Liberal Democrats, Treasurer of Chinese Lib Dems and on the Liberal Democrats Leadership programme (aimed at getting more women, LGBT and ethnic minorities into parliament).
Born in Leamington Spa, I was brought up in Warwick, before studying Economics at the University of Bath. As part of the course I spent a year working as an Assistant Economist at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. After graduation I was Commercial/Pricing Manager for a BT before joining LTSB in 2007, working as an analyst on current accounts, just as the credit crunch emerged! Since 2011 I have been working for a Marketing and Strategy Consultancy firm.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, playing cricket, football and tennis, watching sport, cooking for friends, travelling and events like murder mysterys or themed fancy dress parties. In the past I have had an allotment, as I like to live by my values, sadly work and politics has meant I can no longer offer endless supplies of fruit and veg to my friends.
I’ve always voted Labour. But this time I think our leader and chancellor are tired and out of ideas. Vince Cable seems good on the economy and that’s the main thing at present, right?
Maybe quite a few folk in Bromsgrove may be annoyed with our previous Tory incumbent. So You might do quite well if you send round some leaflets and maybe organise a meeting someplace?
Good Luck to you.
I’ve sent a link to your website to a few of my contacts.
